Spark Preschool Showlist
Parent packets for the upcoming school year were mailed July 24. They provide information about parent orientation, meet-the-teacher open houses, first day of school specifics and the enrollment and medical forms required by the state for each child. Each student will receive a letter from his or her teacher before schools starts.
We look forward to seeing you all in September!

Stars in the Star's class!!
Mrs. Combs' and Mrs. Iles' M/W/F 4s class are stars in more ways than one! They are featured in a new ABC6 weather commercial that will begin airing Nov. 7. The class had a lot of fun learning filming and lighting and learning lines, and they were patient and attentive the whole time (2+ hours) the 30-second commercial was filmed.
Spark's Weather Policy
As the cold weather comes upon us, here's an explanation of Spark's weather policy:
1) If Westerville City Schools (WCS) announce in the morning they are cancelling classes for the day, for snow- or other weather-related reasons, Spark will be closed for the day too.
2) If WCS have a 2-hour delay in the morning, Spark morning classes will be cancelled. Afternoon classes will still be held, unless further cancellations are announced.
3) If WCS announce they are cancelling afternoon kindergarten classes due to the weather, Spark afternoon classes will be cancelled.
Any time the conditions seem iffy before you head out to Spark, please check local news channels, the Spark website, Facebook, our phone line or text your child's teacher. Spark will not be named specifically on news media, but whatever WCS is doing, so are we.

Picnic In The Park
Spark Preschool’s “lunch at school” program is BACK!!!!
Beginning October 8, your student may bring a packed lunch* to school on specified days (alternating Wednesdays and Thursdays) and stay after morning class, or come early for afternoon class, for an 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. lunch program. Designed to give your child an extra opportunity to develop self-help skills, increase social learning and build relationships with new friends, Picnic in the Park (PIP) is a reservations-only, lunch-plus program, $7 per lunch session.
Here is how it works:
If your morning preschooler is staying after for PIP, his teacher will take him to Central Park with his packed lunch, and check him in there with the Spark staff supervising the program. You will need to pick him up in Central Park at 12:30 p.m.
If your afternoon preschooler is coming early for PIP, you will drop her off with her lunch at Central Park at 11:45 a.m., and she will be escorted by staff to her class at 12:30 p.m. after lunch.
What you should pack:
Nuts and foods containing nuts are not permitted at Spark, so students cannot bring any peanut butter or any food containing nuts or peanut butter (ie, certain granola bars, some trail mixes, etc.). Smaller portions work best; some suggestions are sandwiches (turkey, cheese, jelly, cream cheese on a bagel, etc.); cheese and crackers, cold cuts, cheese slices or string cheese, yogurt, whole grain pita bread and dip, sliced fruits and vegetables, apple sauce. The goal is independence for your student, in terms of opening and eating lunch, clean-up afterwards, etc. Drinks are not necessary; water will be provided. Please label lunch box/bag, etc., with your child’s name.
How to sign up:
Reserve and pay for your student's PIP spot on the website, under the Picnic In The Park tab. Space is limited to 24 children per lunch.
If you any questions, please ask Linda or Amy!
